MIFTI

Magneto-Inertial Fusion Technologies, Inc (MIFTI) was founded in 2008 by researchers at the University of California Irvine. MIFTI is headquartered in Tustin, California and their founders are Gerald Simmons, Dr. Hafiz Ur Rahman, and Arshad Mohammad.

MIFTI’s approach is a Staged Z-pinch and is based on research developed at UC Irvine.

MIFTI has received funding from the U.S Department of Energy’s ARPA-E program and venture capital.

MIFTI’s strategy is to pursue three related objectives, “clean, safe, environmentally friendly energy; life-saving diagnostic/treatment products for nuclear medicine; and transmutation of nuclear waste products associated with fission power reactors.”
