Your role in the mission:
Type One Energy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Materials Engineer with general metallurgical experience including materials testing and characterization. Ideally the candidate will have experience with fusion relevant materials and their challenges.
As a materials engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting Type One Energy’s materials program across various components and materials systems. This will be accomplished by executing materials testing and characterization campaigns for specialty fusion materials as well as assisting in material selection and lifetime evaluations. In this role you will be working with multiple internal Type One Energy engineering teams as well as a variety of vendors and testing facilities
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute materials testing and characterization campaigns on specialty fusion materials.
- Perform analysis on test and characterization results to generate campaign outcome reports.
- Perform literature reviews to help direct materials development efforts and lifetime estimations.
- Assist in vendor and external collaborator engagements and evaluations for specialty fusion materials.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and/or publications to disseminate research findings both internally and externally.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of Scientists, Engineers, and Technicians to foster a collaborative environment.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelors degree with 2-3 years of experience or a masters degree and 1-2 years of experience in Materials Science, Nuclear Engineering, or a similar field.
- In depth knowledge on metallurgy including microstructures-property relationships, processing techniques, and failure mechanisms.
- Experience planning and executing materials testing and characterization campaigns.
- Familiarity with fusion relevant structural and armour materials and their environments.
- Ability to write clear and concise technical reports.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and propose innovative solutions.
- Attention to detail in experimental work and data analysis.
