As an Electro-Mechanical Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our engineering and delivery teams in setting up automated manufacturing lines and in the assembly, testing, and validation of electrical and mechanical components integral to our fusion energy systems. Your technical skills, attention to detail, and proactive approach are fundamental to our success.

What You'll Do

  • Build and support testing needs for small scale experiments
  • Support mechanical builds ranging from small tabletop assemblies to large steel weldments
  • Support electrical builds ranging from basic sensor installation to full control panel builds
  • Support the engineering team during the design, development, and testing phases of the fusion system
  • Maintain the manufacturing environment via 5S principles, ensuring that all tools, equipment, and workspaces are clean, safe, and organized
  • Play a key role in setting up the manufacturing site by installing equipment, facilities, and storage
  • Draft and finalize SOPs, safety procedures, and other related documentation
  • Help troubleshoot, repair, and optimize equipment to minimize downtime and maximize productivity
  • Provide feedback to design engineers for DFM improvements or functional changes
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (including electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers) to ensure systems integration and effectiveness
  • Comply with all applicable safety and regulatory requirements, including ISO, state, and federal regulations, as well as those specific to the company

What You Bring

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a technician in a hands-on setting; lead or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex electromechanical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols
  • Extensive experience operating a forklift and using hand and power tools
  • Startup experience with fast changing priorities and work scope

Bonus Points For

  • Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Experience setting up a new manufacturing facility, ideally in a startup environment
  • Experience owning and mastering machine shop tools (lathe, mill, CNC, drill press, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CAD software and the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Background in hands-on trades such as machining, welding, construction, or auto mechanics
