About Fuse

We are building one of the most potentially consequential companies of the century. Our mission is to accelerate the world's transition to fusion energy while safeguarding humankind. This is not a normal company. This is not a normal job. We are committed for the long term to win.

About the Role

As a Machinist at Fuse, you're focused on production: taking drawings from engineering and turning them into parts, fast, right, and efficiently.

You'll work on a mix of standardized TITAN components and rapid one-offs with tight timelines, operating manual and CNC mills and lathes, writing and optimizing CAM programs, and verifying dimensions to hit tolerances consistently.

Core Responsibilities

  • Operate manual and CNC mills and lathes: set up, program, and run jobs from engineering drawings with precision and speed.
  • Write and edit CAM programs using Fusion CAD/CAM, NX CAM, or equivalent.
  • Select tooling and setups based on part geometry, material, and tolerances.
  • Work with materials including stainless steel, PMMA, composites, tungsten alloys, and others.
  • Inspect finished parts against engineering drawings and GD&T requirements and communicate issues to engineering.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED plus 1+ years of professional CNC machining experience, or equivalent education and hands-on shop experience.
  • Proficiency with 3-axis or higher CNC and manual mills and/or lathes.
  • Ability to read and write CAM code using Fusion CAD/CAM, NX CAM, or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and precision measurement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional CNC machining experience.
  • Experience with 5-axis mills or multi-axis machines.
  • Familiarity with Haas machines.
  • CMM programming experience using ZEISS CALYPSO.

What We Value

  • Give a shit. Build things you're proud of.
  • Take responsibility. If something is broken and you can fix it, fix it. See things through.
  • Move fast. Make decisions, learn quickly, and keep moving forward.
  • Think bigger. Simplify relentlessly. Don't default to the safe answer.
  • Disagree and commit. The best idea wins. Once a decision is made, we move.
  • Desire to win. This is hard. Expect intensity. We are here to win.
  • Plan B is to make Plan A work.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to stand or sit for extended periods during machine operation.
  • Able to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Consistent use of required PPE, including eye, hearing, hand, and foot protection.
  • Understanding and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures and safe machine operation.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Relocation assistance for roles that require it.
  • Flexible time off. Take what you need, no accrual tracking.
  • 2 weeks of paid time off built into the end of each year, subject to team and business needs.
  • 10+ paid holidays.
  • Supportive leave of absence policies.
  • Paid leave for new parents.
