Job Title Engineer (KFEU, Germany-based) Job summary We are recruiting a talented and motivated engineer to join our growing fuel cycle team. This role sits at the intersection of mechanical design, process engineering, and fusion technology development. You will contribute to the design, modelling, and qualification of key components and systems for commercial fusion power plants, working across the full development lifecycle from concept to prototype. Job description You will develop and review detailed mechanical designs of fusion fuel cycle components using CAD tools, as well as produce and maintain engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical specifications to applicable industrial standards.
In the area of modelling and simulation you develop and run process simulations and system models (steady-state and transient) for fusion fuel cycle systems including tritium processing units. You perform structural or flow analyses to validate designs and support qualification programs.
Furthermore, you prepare and review qualification documentation, test plans, and technical reports, and engage with suppliers and external test facilities to support manufacturing and testing campaigns. Essential requirements ・Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related science/engineering discipline
・Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience
・Proven experience in 3D CAD design and engineering drawing production (CATIA, SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent)
・Solid understanding of design-for-manufacture
・Experience in process design and P&ID development
・Understanding of chemical engineering unit operations, their design and dimensioning basis
・Curiosity about new technologies and diverse industry knowledge with a proactive approach to learning
・Advanced proficiency in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Desirable requirements ・Experience in instrumentation and control (I&C) engineering, including sensor selection, control logic design, PLC programming
・Familiarity with nuclear or fusion-relevant design qualification processes
・Knowledge of tritium fuel cycle systems
・Experience in process simulation tools (ASPEN and similar)
・Ability to develop and validate system models
・Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS) or CFD (FLUENT, OpenFOAM)
