Your role in the mission:
Type One Energy isseeking anEngineering Physicistto join its growing team.As an Engineering Physicist, you will be responsible forleading and/or supportingindividualplasmadiagnostic(s)toensuremachine protection, real-time control and/orinvestigations on our advanced fusion stellaratorincluding development, deployment and operation.Your expertise will be instrumental in driving progress and ensuring the successful operation of diagnostic systems critical to achieving our researchand commercialgoals.The ideal candidate will alsocontributeto other teams of Engineers and Scientists on similar projects throughout Type One Energy.
Responsibilities:
- Leador supportthe conceptualization, design, construction, and deployment of anindividualdiagnostic(s)to ensure they meet technical feasibility
- Support developmentand applicationofdata analysis and/ormodels for plasma diagnostics
- Support mechanical, nuclearand/or electrical engineering applications for plasma diagnostics
- Participate in planning, execution, and analysis of experiments
What you’ll need:
- B.S. inEngineering Physics,MechanicalEngineering,Nuclear Engineering,Physics,Electrical Engineering,or a related field;
- Familiarityin designing, developing, and/oroperating advanced diagnostic systems for fusion or plasma physics experiments;
- Experiencein data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation using scientific software and programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB);
- Familiarity with Computer Aided Design and Analysis software;
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to diagnostic systems;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, present findings to diverse audiences, and contribute to scientific publications and proposals;
- Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures related to fusion experiments and diagnostics; and
- Knowledge of fusion stellarator concepts, including device physics and operational requirements, is highly desirable
