Why This Role Matters

As an Electro-Mechanical Build Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our engineering and delivery teams in setting up automated manufacturing lines and in the assembly, testing, and validation of electrical and mechanical components integral to our fusion energy systems. Your technical skills, attention to detail, and proactive approach are fundamental to our success.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the assembly, installation, and maintenance of our fusion systems.
  • Receive deliveries and control inventory of equipment and manufacturing supplies.
  • Rapid prototyping for fusion technology applications.
  • Support the engineering team during the design, development, and testing phases of the fusion system.
  • Help troubleshoot, repair, and optimize equipment to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (including electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers) to ensure systems integration and effectiveness.
  • Play a key role in setting up the manufacturing site by installing equipment, facilities, and storage.
  • Draft and finalize SOPs, safety procedures, and other related documentation.
  • Maintain the manufacturing environment via 5S principles, ensuring that all tools, equipment, and workspaces are clean, safe, and organized.
  • Comply with all applicable safety and regulatory requirements, including ISO, state, and federal regulations, as well as those specific to the company.

What You Bring

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a technician in a hands-on setting.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and technical drawings for viewing and interpreting design schematics is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex electromechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols.
  • Extensive experience driving a forklift and using hand power tools.
  • Strong communication skills and experience with in person and remote communication with other technicians and engineers.
  • Experience with automation equipment and processes is a plus.
  • Experience in setting up a new manufacturing facility, ideally in a startup environment is a plus.
  • Experience owning and mastering machine shop tools, particularly lathe, mill, CNC, drill press, etc is a plus.
  • Experience with building out a team by interviewing, hiring, and training other technicians is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the physical ability to squat, reach, climb, prolonged periods of standing, frequent lifting of objects up to 50 lbs, and regular hands-on work with tools and equipment in the laboratory.
