LaserFusionX

LaserFusionX is a fusion energy startup founded in 2022 by Stephen Obenschain, formerly of the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, to develop excimer laser-based fusion energy. The company focuses on a direct-drive inertial confinement approach using argon fluoride (ArF) excimer lasers, which are intended to achieve efficient fuel compression and high energy gain. Its development plan includes building an ArF beam line, an experimental facility, and a pilot plant to support future commercial fusion systems.
