STOR-1M

1983 - Present

STOR-1M image
Description

STOR-1M (Saskatchewan Torus – 1 Modified) was Canada’s first tokamak device and also the world’s first successful AC tokamak. STOR-1M was the smaller predecessor of STOR-M. The primary aim of STOR-1M was to study plasma heating of tokamaks.

STOR-M

1987 - Present

STOR-M image
Description

STOR-M(Saskatchewan TORus-Modified) is a small-scale tokamak with an iron core transformer at the University of Saskatchewan. It's designed to study the effect of turbulent heating, AC operation, resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP), and compact torus injection (CTI).

STOR-U

STOR-U image
Description

STOR-U is a planned tokamak device. It's design is under development and will likely be larger than previous devices built at University of Saskatchewan.

US-CTI

1993 - Present

US-CTI image
Description

University of Saskatchewan – Compact Torus Injector is a CT injection experiment that consists of a Marshall gun and a coaxial rail gun. The aim of the device is to study tokamak fuelling technology and plasma current drive. US-CTI was installed in the University’s STOR-M tokamak in 1995. In STOR-M, US-CTI is set up on flexible joints to enable injection at various angles to maximize fuel deposition.

UofS-I DPF

UofS-I DPF image
Description

UofS-I DPF is a dense plasma focus system at University of Saskatchewan. The aim of UofS-I DPF is pursue materials testing and the generation of high temperatures relevant to the p-B11 fusion reaction.
