Join the power movement as Senior Manager, Process Engineering

We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Process Engineering to join our team. The Process Engineering Manager will be responsible for vacuum-based processes, including sputtering and thermal processes. A core skill needed for this role is deep knowledge of the inorganic materials science. Experience in managing a range of processes is necessary. The role will interact with R&D technical staff, process engineers and technicians. This role requires attention to detail, procedural discipline and timely execution. What you'll do:

  • Manage and develop stable and capable unit processes
  • Create SOPs and workflows for process systems and provide training (both written and verbal) for staff
  • Manage a team of process engineers and technicians
  • Work with equipment engineering and integration engineering to drive continuous improvement and achieve technical milestones
  • Develop and use data management systems including laboratory information management systems

What we’re looking for:

  • M.S. in a technical field (or equivalent industrial experience) including materials science, electrical engineering, or physics
  • 10+ years' of experience working as a process engineer in thin film R&D and manufacturing
  • 5+ years' experience as a manager
  • Thorough understanding of process engineering concepts and inorganic materials science across a range of materials synthesis techniques
  • Thorough understanding and regular user of designed experiments (DOE)
  • Working knowledge of materials analysis, including optical and electron microscopy, surface probe measurements, optical and NIR probes, x-ray measurements, transport measurements
  • Experience working with equipment vendors and directing equipment vendor activity
  • Ability to take directions from supervisors and work independently in a fast-paced, startup environment
  • Ability to create work instructions for staff and technicians, and provide training
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills

Bonus points for:

  • Ph.D. preferred
  • Experience in the semiconductor, battery, solar cell, optoelectronics or related fields
  • Experience working in a fabrication facility
  • Experience with JMP

Must-have Requirements:

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Perform activities such as stooping, climbing, typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate industrial hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, and cryogenics
  • Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally, including compressed work-week shift schedule
$150,000 - $225,000 a year
Salary range for this full-time position + equity + benefits. The actual salary will depend on level, location, qualifications, and experience. The range displayed on each job posting reflects new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Benefits include:
