About Commonwealth Fusion Systems:
Commonwealth Fusion Systems is on a mission to deliver the urgent transition to fusion energy.
Combining decades of research, top talent, and new technologies, we’re designing and building commercially viable fusion power plants. And we're working with policymakers, suppliers, and many others to build the energy industry of the future.
We’re in the best position to make it happen. Since 2018, we’ve raised $4 billion of capital, making us the largest and leading fusion company in the world.
Now we’re looking for more thinkers, doers, builders, and makers to join us. People who’ll bring new perspectives, solve tough problems, and thrive as part of a team.
If that’s you and this role fits, we want to hear from you.
Join the power movement as a Senior Enterprise Solution Architect

To support our rapid growth and complex engineering, manufacturing, and business operations, we are looking for a strategic and hands-on Enterprise Solution Architect.

In this role, you will be responsible for defining, designing, and driving the overarching technology architecture across our digital ecosystem. You will bridge the gap between high-level business goals and technical execution, ensuring our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), cloud infrastructure, and data platforms seamlessly integrate into a unified digital thread.

If you thrive in high-impact environments, enjoy solving complex IT/OT integration challenges across corporate and operational systems, and want to architect the digital foundation for the future of clean energy, we would love to hear from you.

What you'll do:

Architecture Vision & Strategy: Define, document, and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap. Ensure alignment between IT/OT infrastructure, software platforms, and long-term business goals while maintaining digital thread traceability from early engineering design through to production execution
Solution Design & Governance: Lead the end-to-end architectural design for core enterprise applications (ERP, PLM, MES, CRM, Data Warehouse). Establish technical standards, Master Data Management protocols, system-of-record boundaries, and governance for item masters, Engineering Change Orders (ECO), and EBOM to MBOM transformations
Cross-System Integration: Architect secure, scalable integrations connecting shop-floor Operational Technology (OT) to cloud platforms and core enterprise applications (ERP, MES)
Technical Leadership & Advisory: Partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, finance, supply chain, and IT teams to translate business requirements into robust system blueprints, technology selections, and multi-year transformation roadmaps
Vendor & Platform Evaluation: Conduct technical trade studies, proofs-of-concept (POCs), build-versus-configure assessments, and vendor evaluations to ensure modern, fit-for-purpose software and cloud solutions with optimized Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
Security & Compliance Alignment: Work with Cybersecurity and Infrastructure teams to ensure all solutions comply with enterprise security standards, data privacy requirements, and regulatory policies (such as ISO, AS9100 configuration management, or export controls)
Technical Debt & Modernization: Identify architectural bottlenecks, legacy technical debt, and redundancy across the tech stack. Build clear modernization roadmaps that support cloud/hybrid deployments, edge computing, and smart-factory initiatives

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 to 10+ years of total experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or lead systems architecture, with a focus on advanced engineering, hardware, aerospace, automotive, clean energy, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
  • Proven Track Record: Direct experience leading or delivering at least 2 to 3 full lifecycle implementations or modernizations connecting PLM, ERP, and MES/MOM platforms
  • Big-Picture Vision & Technical Depth: A strategic thinker who can easily shift from high-level enterprise roadmaps to detailed technical, API, and schema design conversations
  • Effective Communicator: An architect capable of building consensus and explaining technical trade-offs among cross-functional stakeholders, executive leadership, and shop-floor engineers
  • Pragmatic Architect: A balanced practitioner who weighs best-practice architectural frameworks against the speed, flexibility, and delivery constraints required in a high-growth environment
  • Complexity Manager: Someone skilled at untangling legacy tech debt, resolving data silos, and defining rationalized target-state environments

Bonus points for:

  • Enterprise Platforms: Deep hands-on design experience and domain expertise with industry-standard core systems, including:
    • PLM: Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Aras Innovator, or PTC Arena
    • ERP: SAP S/4HANA, Odoo, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP / NetSuite, or Epicor Kinetic
    • MES: Siemens Opcenter, Manufacturo, SAP Digital Manufacturing (DM), or AVEVA MES
    • SCADA / Automation: Ignition (Inductive Automation), AVEVA System Platform (Wonderware), Siemens SIMATIC WinCC, GE Proficy, or Rockwell FactoryTalk View
  • Integration Frameworks: Hands-on experience with modern integration architecture (REST/GraphQL APIs, message brokers like Kafka or RabbitMQ, iPaaS platforms like MuleSoft, Workato, or Boomi), ISA-95 standards, PLM XML, edge computing, and IIoT shop-floor integration.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Strong experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), cloud-native design patterns, hybrid deployment models, and identity/security protocols

Must-have requirements:

  • Perform activities such as typing, standing, and sitting, for extended periods of time
  • Willingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call - this position will require up to 25% travel (day-trip & overnight)
  • Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
$110,000 - $185,000 a year

• Competitive compensation with equity
• 13 Company-wide Holidays
