The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique or CEA) is a French government-backed research organization with focus areas in defense and security, nuclear and renewable energies, and technological research for industry, as well as fundamental research. The organization works in collaboration with its academic and industrial partners to drive its various projects. Notably, among its many initiatives, the CEA also participates in the ITER fusion project.
