ITER is an international collaboration that aims to demonstrate the scientific and technological feasibility of fusion energy. ITER is using a tokamak to prove that magnetic confinement can contain and sustain a superheated plasma long enough to produce net energy. ITER is an experimental machine intended to test the physics and engineering required for future power plants.
