Affiliate Spotlight: Liberty Fusion: An Economics-First Approach to Fusion
- We sat down with Koichi Masuda, founder and CEO of Liberty Fusion, the Santa Fe-based company commercializing plasma-jet-driven magneto-inertial fusion (PJMIF). An array of plasma guns compresses the fuel from meters away, and the guns get swapped out like consumables rather than built to last the life of the plant. Masuda makes the case that cost competitiveness has to be designed in from the start rather than solved after the science.
Daedal Systems Raises $4 Million to Deploy Standardized Plasma Diagnostics
- Daedal Systems has raised a US$4.035 million round led by OMERS Ventures. The Toronto company builds standardized plasma measurement systems and delivers them as a service, so fusion machine developers can focus on their core IP. The funding will go toward Daedal's first three diagnostic systems and prototype deployments with pilot customers. Read more in our affiliate interview with Henry Gould from last month.
CFS Places Largest-Ever HTS Tape Order with Fujikura for ARC Power Plant
- Commonwealth Fusion Systems has ordered more than 10,000 km (3 GA-m) of HTS tape from Fujikura, which CFS says is the largest single HTS tape order to date. The tape will go into the magnets for ARC, CFS's first fusion power plant. The order is roughly twice the amount used in SPARC, and Fujikura will expand its manufacturing capacity to deliver it.
New User-Added Listings

Two more organizations have joined the supply chain directory and built out their pages since our last issue.
-
BlankSlate Innovation, a Texas Tech University spinout based in Lubbock, Texas, builds scientific instruments, nuclear detection products, and isotope analysis systems for fusion research and industry. It listed itself under plasma diagnostics, deuterium, and helium-3, and added five products to the product directory, including a minifridge-sized FT-ICR mass spectrometer built for fusion-releavant isotope analysis.
-
Rubisco Advisory, an executive search and leadership advisory firm that works with corporate boards, venture capital, and private equity sponsors is now listed as a consulting firm.
-
Established listings are growing too. Magneto-Inertial Fusion Technologies (MIFTI), which originated the staged Z-pinch approach to fusion, refreshed its page with a new profile, logo, and website, and added Mihir Worah as CEO, with Gerald Simmons now Executive Chairman. Fusionality, the EPFL Swiss Plasma Center spinout building diagnostics, plasma control, and data systems for fusion devices, updated its profile and leadership.
