Helion is a fusion machine developer pursuing the field-reversed configuration (FRC) path to fusion energy. Helion has built and operated a number of FRC machines and is currently building Polaris, an FRC with the stated goal of generating electricity from fusion reactions.

Polaris

Description

Polaris is Helion's seventh-generation prototype device. The project has been in development since 2021. The field reversed configuration device is designed to be 19 meters long.

Trenta

Description

Trenta is Helion's sixth-generation prototype device. The field reversed configuration device has a total length of 15 meters.

In 2020, the Trenta device was able to achieve temperatures of 9 keV or 100 million degrees Celsius.
